Symposium: The Challenges and Opportunities Presented by Aging Members in the Community

In light of medical advancement and the extended human life span, communal rabbis and the community itself are presented with the opportunity and obligation to provide an optimal environment for aging community members. In the month of Adar, the Barkai Center held an inaugural conference for communal rabbis in conjunction with the Hadassah Medical Center and EMDA, the Alzheimer’s Association in Israel. The goal of the conference was to raise awareness about the process of aging and endow communal rabbis with the knowledge and know-how to integrate the aged within the community and provide ongoing support.
