גדל בקרית ארבע, ולמד בישיבת בישיבה התיכונית מצפה יריחו ולאחר מכן בישיבה הגבוהה.

לימודי הלכה לסמיכה לרבנות - בכולל ההלכה של מצפה יריחו.

היה שותף בהקמת ישיבה תיכונית "מצפה רחובות" השלוחה של מצפה יריחו ברחובות.

שירות צבאי - בבית המדרש הצבאי.

בית הכנסת "תפארת ישראל" נוסד בשנות ה60 על ידי העולים לארץ, שבעשר אצבעותיהם בנו יחד את בית הכנסת.

בית הכנסת פעיל בכל ימות השבוע ומתקיימות בו כל התפילות.

מלבד זאת יש מגוון שיעורי תורה במשך השבוע (גם לנשים) ובשבת וספרייה תורנית עשירה.

בית הכנסת מתייחד ביחס חם לדור הצעיר, ובנתינת מקום וגיבוי ליוזמות ורעיונות חדשים העולים מהשטח.

נוסח בית הכנסת - ספרדי. האווירה בבית הכנסת היא תורנית - ציונית.

המתפללים בבית הכנסת מגוונים - יש ותיקים שגדלו בשכונה, ויש חדשים שהצטרפו יותר מאוחר, דתיים ומסורתיים, בבית הכנסת שוררת אווירה של אחווה וקרבה.

בית הכנסת שואף להפוך למרכז רוחני של תפילה, תורה וחסד, בבית הכנסת יש רצון לתת מקום לדור הצעיר.

The Barkai Center for Practical Rabbinics aims to improve the fabric of Israeli society by intensively training Israeli rabbis in all aspects of communal rabbinics so that they can lead their communities to a more meaningful connection with Judaism and act as a unifying force in Israeli society.
