nl7 The Barkai rabbis of all three classes participated in a fascinating and unique day-long seminar on the topic of divorce. The lecturer, an expert in the field in the Sate of Israel, Dr. Yoav Mazeh, a lawyer and a Senior Lecturer on the Law faculty of the Ono Academic College in Jerusalem specializes in Family Law and Intellectual Property Law. His research in Family Law has been cited in official committees and judicial decisions.

During the seminar, the rabbis became acquainted with the process of divorce in the State of Israel, in both the secular and rabbinic courts and on the difficulties of those who refuse to give or receive a "Get" (Jewish Divorce). The rabbis learned a lot, especially how to assist and direct those who turn to him in these matters. Of course, one of the most central roles of the rabbi is to help with marital harmony and maintaining the family unit. But, together with this, the rabbi must be ready to assist couples in the divorce process.

The Barkai Center for Practical Rabbinics aims to improve the fabric of Israeli society by intensively training Israeli rabbis in all aspects of communal rabbinics so that they can lead their communities to a more meaningful connection with Judaism and act as a unifying force in Israeli society.
